What are Business Gifts?

Business gifts are those that are given by an organization to its employees, customers, clients, etc. They can also be gifts that are given to colleagues and business associates. The idea behind business gifts is to create an individuality for the receiver and more importantly, to serve as a business promotional item. A lot of attention and thought must go into identifying business gifts and their distribution. The challenge is to stay away from extravagance, which can impact the budget and yet stick with items that are unique and personalized. Choosing gifts for employees and personalizing them can be an easier task; the business entity already has a lot of details about its employees and it is easy to ascertain the necessities and choose gifts accordingly. But, while choosing business gifts for corporate clients and customers, it becomes difficult because the gifts not only need to be unique; they also have to be good enough to work as a promotional tool and advertizing medium. These gifts also must not be too extravagant because that can attract an unwanted tag of being an inducement, rather than an advertisement. Not only do these business gifts need to be unique, they also have to be subtle enough to avoid unwanted attention.

There has to be differentiation of gifts based on the profile of the receivers. Apart from the “employee” and “Client” distinction, further categorization of the receivers can simplify the issue for business entities. Employees can be further segregated into designation or work based categories and customer/clients can be classified according to their nature of association with the business entity. For example, Employees who work in the manufacturing/factory division of the organization will not have mush use with a Business organizer, if it is given as a corporate gift. Similarly, a Client who contributes significantly to the top line and bottom line of the business must be given business gifts that is worthy of their importance. This type of segregation is only to determine the level of personalization and not for discriminatory purposes. Business entities must take care that any bias, intentional or unintentional, is taken out of the equation and only the utility, personalization and uniqueness aspects are addressed when these categorizations take place. When the business gifts are selected, it is also important to rationalize the prices and keep them within budget. Most of the times, discounted prices are given for bulk orders of business gifts and products.
